
Hotel Montana, the most luxurious hotel in Haiti prior to the January 12th, 2010 earthquake, was pancaked to the ground in less than 30 seconds. When the building crumbled, the roof literally collapsed onto the 5th floor and like a domino effect, subsequent floors crumbled to the ones below, resulting in the roof laying on ground level.
Because of poor infrastructure, piping not up to structure codes, there was nothing left to hold any of the building together.

Large equipment used to dig through larger pieces of rubble. When "spotters" on the ground saw anything that resembled anything that may have belonged to a guest (laptop, suitcase, etc) or a body they would signal the large equipment drivers to stop all work immediately.
